The International Institute for Human Rights (IIHR) operates, within the framework of “Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University, as a university research structure, with  the main goal of interdisciplinary research in the field of human rights and in the field of the general theory and practice of law, as well as participating in national and international research programs. The Institute also aims to attract personalities from the legal field and various other social and political domains, in order to ensure a profound analysis and a thorough implementation of the values and principles of human rights and freedoms, in a society based on constitutional democracy and the rule of law.

In the scope of the Institute are summarized mainly fundamental research activities in the field of human rights and fundamental freedoms , the promotion and dissemination of human beings`  essential values, as settled in the European civilization , and implemented in the Universal Declaration Human Rights, the European Convention on Human Rights , as well as many other international documents . For this reason, the institute organizes national and international conferences on human rights, symposia, scientific communication sessions and debates on various legal topics of general interest .The paper presented at these scientific events are published in volumes or in journals nationally accredited and indexed in international databases.

A constant concern of the Institute is mentoring young researchers, students, master and PhD candidates, in the spirit of the great values of human rights in the contemporary world and their involvement in scientific research , as well as trainers in promoting human rights.
