The International Institute for Human Rights (IIHR) operates within the "Dimitrie Cantemir" Christian University, as a university structure of studies and research whose main objective is the promotion of human rights, interdisciplinary scientific research in this field, in connection with legal theory, practice and education. The Institute intends to participate in national and international research programs, attracting in its activities prominent personalities from the legal and social political fields as varied as possible for the deep analysis and application of the fundamental values and principles of citizens' rights and freedoms, in a society based on the rules of constitutional democracy and the rule of law.

   In the field of activity of the Institute are mainly covered by fundamental research activities in the field of human rights and fundamental freedoms, the promotion of the essential values of the human being, as they were enshrined in the Constitution of Romania, the European Convention on Human Rights, the Charter from Paris for a new Europe, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well as in many other international documents.

   In this regard, the Institute organizes national and international conferences in the field of human rights, symposiums, sessions of scientific communications and debates on different legal topics of wide interest, participates in international scientific meetings of profile.

   A constant concern of the Institute is the education of young researchers, students, masters and doctoral students, in the spirit of the great values of human rights in the contemporary world and their involvement in scientific research, including, as trainers in the field of human rights promotion.
